Why does Cabela's require me to fill out a Request for Routing document?

Why does Cabela's require me to fill out a Request for Routing document prior to shipping my product? I have not filled out a Request for Routing document before and want to make sure I meet all of the requirements. Where can I find out more information regarding this document?

Cabela’s has an agreement with UPS Supply Chain Solutions who assist in coordinating product distribution. The Request for Routing (753) document communicates to UPS specific information in regards to the ship quantity, ship-from location, weight, cube, and other relevant information that will help determine the routing, shipment optimization, and truck space needed.

Cabela's Specific Requirements to keep in mind:

  • Used for all shipments that are over 150 pounds and/or for products considered oversized

  • When Payment Terms are deemed “Collect”

  • *Must be submitted at least 72 hours in advance of the requested pick-up date.


    • Note that weekend hours are not included in the 72 hour timeframe



    If a Request for Routing does not meet these requirements the document will fail to process within WebForms and an error notification email will be generated.
