Is anyone automating there packing slip printing? Although we are doing EDI transactions with SPS, we can not automate the downloads of Packings Slips. We can only print/save them out via the web portal.  These packing slips are images and not searchable pdfs or tiffs.

What I would like to have is the ability to download each packing slip via FTP. The file name would be the retailerid and PO number.  Then I can associate them order.  My ultimate goal was to have the packing slips print out with the shipping labels, so they just grab everything at once and get the item out the door.

How are people handling this issue?

Good afternoon Tim,

Thank you for Posting to the Support Center!

I just wanted to get a post out here before the weekend but I have tried to look into possibilities for this and have found that most likely this is not possible and that you will have to continue to print these packing slips via the Web Portal. However, I will continue to look into possibilities and keep you updated if I find any different scenario. It will be interesting to see if/how other people were able to handle this issue but all I have seen thus far is printing them via the Web Portal.

I hope that this helps and please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Best Regards,

It really makes no sense that there is no current way to automate the transmission of packing slips.  Technically it is not a complicated process.

Secondly printing them via the web portal and not having a way to save them as a "Readable" PDF at the very least is a complete oversight.  Especially when multiple packing slips are in the 1 downloaded file.  I completely understand combining them in to 1 file. However if there was the option of selecting All and saving each packing slip individually with the filename "Retailer_ PONumber" would be extremely helpful.

How are large organizations handling this?  Maybe I am missing something.  I just can't image a 1,000 shipments a day being matched manually with the shipping label.

I appreciate your feedback.  And welcome a call to figure something out.

Would it meet your needs if you could print the packing slips and shipping labels for a bunch of documents all at once (through "Select an Action") and the packing slip and shipping labels for each document were together so they would print in order?

No that is basically what you are giving us now. We need to select the order in which we ship. If you could actually send a readable PDF then I can parse out each packing slip and save it myself.  But this is still a work around.  The two options I have mentioned would really work.

How do you other customers handle this?  Are you aware that this is even an issue?  Just think about the logistics of what has to happen in the current process.  I am just surprised that I am the only customer that sees this as an issue.

Max,

I still have not been given any options on this. How do other organizations handle this?

Hello Tim-

I apologize for the delay in response. We have been exploring different options on our side and have not come to a specific conclusion.

I would like to get some further details, examples and information from you. I will send you an email in the next few minutes and if you could respond to that I would greatly appreciate it so we can work on further steps.

Best Regards,

Hi Tim,

We are considering to have EDI solutions with SPS.

I really appreciate that you bring up this issue that I aware as well. Does SPS provided a solid solution for this?

Best,
Shu
