We have recently seen an increase in the amount of Java Error 1603 messages.  This error occurs during the Java installation.  Below we walk through what we have found usually resolves the issue.  If this does not work, we will need to revert back to a previous version of Java.

  1. If you receive this error you will need to uninstall the Windows update KB2918614.

  2. Go to the Control Panel and click on "Window Update."  If you are not familiar with accessing your Control Panel, you will want to click the Start Menu (likely in the bottom-left).  From here, select Control Panel on the right side.

If you are only seeing eight icons, please change the "View by:" to Large icons in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

  3. In the next window, click on "View Update History" on the left side.

  4. In order to remove the update, we need to view the Installed Updates by clicking the link in the top center.

  5. Once all of the Installed updates load, search in the top left corner for KB2918614

  6. Once the search finds KB2918614, you can right-click to Uninstall. Once uninstalled, exit out of all browsers.  Next, go back into the desired browser and attempt to install Java. You should be able to install the newest version of Java.

Glad to hear you found value in it!  Definitely a very frustrating issue to encounter when simply trying to update.

So i've got windows 10 and I'm getting the sam error. However the update that caused interference on older windows does not exist on my update history. Currently I have a total of 8 updates installed

Hello Caleb!

I would like to confirm a few pieces of information so that I can better address your issue.

-Please provide your company name
-Please indicate if you are using IE (internet explorer) or Mozilla Firefox

(NOTE: If you are using Microsoft Edge--looks similar to IE but without the halo, you will need to switch to either IE or Mozilla as java is not compatible with Microsoft Edge).

I having the same issue as Caleb.  I have tried both IE and Mozilla.  My Java is up to date. This issue has been occurring for a couple of weeks and now I am unable to complete anything.  There are no error messages.  Nothing happens. I am with Wirecrafters.

There could be a variety of things going on here.  We find if you have gone through all the troubleshooting steps, we may need to hop on a desktop share and see the issue directly on your computer.

I would suggest calling into the Support Team and they can troubleshoot the issue directly.

Thank you,
