If you are able to mass upload items to the universal catalog you should be able to do the reverse. As it's not very reliable to depend on one person to be the keeper of a mass spreadsheet with all the specs you folks require us to upload to your system. I think this needs to be addressed ASAP.

If I want to update and/or add items, I have to re-upload the entire spreadsheet with the added items. But what if the person, whom originally completed the sheet left the company, or something happened to their computer? There is no way of getting that sheet back, and we have to start from scratch?

Thank you

Hi Marcia,

Thank you for utilizing the Support Center to get your questions answered - sorry for the slow response.

In response to mass-deleting, would you like to be able to delete your entire spreadsheet?  Please take a look at this post as it explains a couple ways to delete items, one being in a bit of a mass way.

As far as updating and/or adding items, you are able to do so with a blank template. In this sense, you are able to upload a spreadsheet containing one item in order to get it added to your inventory of items, however it is recommended that it is then updated on the master spreadsheet.

I completely understand the concerns of the master spreadsheet being lost.  This was a function that was considered when creating the V7 version of catalog, and to increase the performance of uploading spreadsheets, a copy is not kept internally.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!

In regards to the updating/adding of items, my one problem is that you should be able to download off SPS Commerce the entire list of products that are already uploaded with all the fields that have been filled in as well so that you can just add to that list and re upload it, and/or delete items the same way. That would be the ideal thing to do so no one person has to be the keeper of the master sheet.

Hi Marcia,

I think that is a great idea and I will be sure to label your most recent post as an "Idea" so that our Product Management team can take a look!  I agree, being able to download your items from the website into a file that contains all attributes and is formatted to be uploaded would be ideal.

In the interim, it is possible to download all attributes on the website to a spreadsheet (which unfortunately is not in an uploadable format), copy all data to the template, and essentially have a master sheet.  I understand this is not convenient, but hope it gives you peace-of-mind that all is not lost if the master spreadsheet goes awry.

I hope this helps and thank you for a great idea!
