I sent an advanced ship notice to my trading partner a few hours ago and am unsure if it has been received. Because this is a time sensitive document, I want to make sure this is delivered. How will I be alerted my advanced ship notice has been received?

Once a document is sent, it will process through the SPS Commerce data center and on to your trading partner. If your trading partner sends and receives EDI as a data type, a Functional Acknowledgement (otherwise known as a 997) will be sent back upon receipt and validation of an EDI document transmission. This document serves as an acknowledgement that a document transmission passed through the SPS Commerce system, and was received by your trading partner. In addition, the 997 specifies whether a document has been accepted or rejected by your trading partner’s EDI system.

Upon initial transmission of our ASN you will see that this document is marked in bold with a blue envelope in your Sent folder. This indicates that the document remains In Transit, showing that we have not yet received a Functional Acknowledgement (997). Once we have received the 997, the document will change to an Accepted status, as noted by the change in font and icon which is now identified by a grey piece of paper.
