When shipping Ground (not truck or LTL), there needs to be more fields to enter tracking #'s for more than one carton. it's fine for BOL's, as there is only one, but when shipments go ground, there is only one field. Right now I have to print one UCC128 - then go back to the screen, change the tracking, then print the UCC128 for the next carton and the third and the fourth, etc.

Hi Debra,

Thanks for posting in our Support Center!  I can definitely take a look and see if there is a better way to complete these types of shipments.  Could you please let me know which trading partner you are doing this for and the ASN type that you are using (if they have multiple)?  Please let me know whenever you get a chance.  Thank you!

Hi yes...

our trading partner is macys.com. the issue/concern is that we'll receive 1 PO with three ship to locations. Not all of the locations receive the same product...for example, one location may be 2 pallets via LTL but the other two shipping locations are able to ship Fed Ex ground. Each carton will have it's own unique tracking #'s. But there is no place in SPS to enter tracking #'s for each carton. The work around I am doing is: enter the tracking # for the first carton, print that UCC 128; go back enter the tracking # for the next carton, print that UCC 128, etc. so for macys.com recent shipment, I had 5 cartons.
The other concern that piggy backs this is that when I print UCC 128 labels, I am not able to select the printing location on my labels. All the barcodes print on the upper left label so I have to use several sheets.
let me know if this image doesn't come through.

Thank you
Debra

Above is a copy from another vendor that we create bar codes for. Note: I am able to select which "sticker" on the label document. That would be slick!

If there is not fix for entering tracking #'s for each carton (Ground shipments)...then a allowing me a choice of where to print would be wonderful.

Hi Debra,

I am going to take a look at that form to see if there is a better way for you to produce all of the labels.  I will get back to you as soon as I can.  Thanks!

How about creating a separate ASN for each of the ship to locations? That should solve the problem. Not all retailers require the tracking number to be on the GS1- usually just on the ASN. I have not worked with Macys, so I am not speaking specifically to their procedures.

thanks... I do create separate ASN's for each shipping location already. I will have to check with macys.com to see if they require each carton ASN/GS1 128 to have "carton specific" tracking #'s. If they don't...then problem solved but if they do...I guess I'd still have to do the work around. (just an FYI -- our previous EDI provider did have fields for tracking #'s for each carton, so I just assumed it was something available from other EDI Providers as well.) But -- I'm confused on one thing yet... even if the retailer doesn't require tracking #'s on the GS1...only the ASN, and I have multiple cartons to the shipping location...how do I enter more than 1 tracking # on the ASN? Example: location has 5 cartons shipping ground (not truck) -- each carton will have it's own tracking # from the carrier. How do I enter that for 1 ASN?
Thank you for your help and time,

If you make a separate ASN for each location, yuu will have a field on each of them for your tracking number- BOL number for a pallet shipment, UPS or FX number for a parcel shipment. If you ship 5 cartons by FedEx, the main tracking number ( first carton) should suffice, if you processed all 5 together- that will allow the trading partner to access the entire shipment with the main number.
When I ship to Target.com I only enter the first tracking number for all of the cartons in the shipment- that should do it, but you will need to double check- call the logistics person for Macy's??

For your label printing issue- use a check mark next to each ASN that you want to create labels for, and use the drop down at the bottom- choose the option to make the warehouse docs and labels. This will creat all of the labels for hte ASNs you have checked off, all at once, and consolidate them. Will that help?

Hi Adele,

I don't think I'm making myself clear... We have one PO...that PO has three different shipping locations. location #1 is going truck - fine, that's one BOL/tracking #. location #2 is one carton going ground - also not an issue with one tracking #. location #3 is in 5 cartons but going FedEx Ground...I need a field for each carton's tracking #'s. I can't process the shipment all together because I have to put the ASN/GS1 number in the reference field for each carton - and this number is different for each carton in the shipment.

Hi Debra,

I took a look at the form and found that there is a place to enter the tracking number for each of the parcels on the Order tab.  You can enter this information in the 'Parcel ID number'.  The notes that we have on our end show that the tracking ID is not necessarily sent to your trading partner though and it does not pull into your shipping label.  I am going to email you outside of this thread with the example label that I created and maybe we can set up a time to go over this over the phone. Please let me know if this works for you.  Thank you!
