In a Toys R US ASN : DC, under pack info it says "Carrier Assigned Package ID". What is that? Where does it come from. If I just key in a random number I do not see it anywhere on the labels.

Hi George!

This field is defined in the Toys R Us specifications as "Carrier-assigned code. Must be a unique number for each carton/pallet"

It can contain 1/43 characters. If you are shipping multiple pallets you will have to click the + sign in the Item Info section so that you can assign these numbers for each unique pallet.
Yeah but what is it?? EDI is so full of generic terminology and lazy documentation.. Not a single answer exist for what exactly a Carrier-assigned Package ID number is.

Sorry for the confusion.  The terminology can really vary from Trading Partner to Trading Partner as they define their specifications.  I completely understand and agree that terms can be "loosely" used from one scenario to another.  Do you have a specific Trading Partner you are working with?  I will do my best to interpret exactly what they are looking for.

Thank you,
