I would like to use different colored flags in WebForms to separate and organize orders by stages of completion.

I love this idea! We have multiple vendors that are at various stages at varying times. I'd love seeing things "color coded" instead of using lables.

Hi Jill, thank you for responding! Click the +1 button under the idea(s) that you would like to see implemented to help us quantify impact of potential future enhancements.

What about assigning labels to the documents? You can already do that. How well would that work for you?

Hi Jill,

I agree with James. Would assigning tags to your documents in WebForms provide similar value for managing your inbox? Labels allow you to tag your documents with your own set of terms that can describe different stages of completion. For example you can add a label like "Shipped" to indicate that the purchase order was shipped and is now ready to be invoiced.

If this isn't quite what you had in mind, I'd love to hear more about how we can help you better manage your documents.

Thanks,
Colin

This was JUST a suggestion I saw out there that I know I personally, would like. I only have a few vendors, and I'm a visual person, so honestly, I like the idea of having a prettier webforms during our busy season. I'm fully aware of labels and couldn't manage my multiple vendors without them.
Thanks,
Jill

I agree with Jill.

I use the text labels for special notes like "backordered," "hold until 2/17", or "shipped qty 2 of 5" but I would like multiple flag color options, which I would use for other purposes.

The ideal situation for me would be the ability to set a default to automatically color-code items when an action has been completed on them-- order comes in white, turns green after it's been acknowledged, orange after the ASN has been sent, blue after it's been invoiced, etc. I wouldn't mind doing it manually, but an auto option would be even shiner. :)

We are considering showing the status of the document (new, partially shipped, shipped, partially invoiced, invoiced, etc). If we did that, would you still want to have colored flags? Also, would it be helpful to be able to assign a colored flag to a label?

Showing the status would be great. The option to color-code it by status would be even better. Right now, the "sameness" of everything can make the screen a little difficult to read.

For the way I personally use labels, associating colored flags with them would not be very useful, but I'm sure they might be for other people.

If the status of the orders was already denoted in some way (as mentioned above) I would probably use different colored flags for different vendors, so we could more easily cue on the documents we need without a sort or search.

That brings up another idea: What about allowing you to chose a color for each trading partner and then WebForms would use that color as much as possible for that trading partner?

That would work for us.

If I had to choose one or the other, I think colors for vendors and text-based order status would be preferable.

I love color-coding, but a screen drenched in rainbows is even harder to read than a blank white one.

I agree with Christina.

Being able to color code vendors would be preferred here as well. The label feature would be even better if they were automatic (LOVE the idea of orders being noted in webforms as new, printed, shipped, invoiced, closed etc...)

I don't mind the idea of color coding the process (red for shipped, blue for invoiced etc), but that could get out of hand if someone has more going on in their webforms than we do. We only support 3 vendors through SPS right now.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I'll circle up with James and our development team to work out a plan for how we can make this happen. Look for further updates in this thread.

Colin

I LOVE this idea and find myself frustrated with trying to figure out what I sent to the warehouse and what I need to send.

My initial thoughts were to add additional columns and once once part of the fulfillment process is complete, the active link is no longer active but a new link in the next column would be active indicating that is the step you need to take next.

Hi Philip,

Impressive mock up! This is exactly the direction we want to go with this idea. We want to be able to provide automatic status changes to purchase orders so that you can easily see which ones you have shipped and which ones you have invoiced.

Colin
