Advanced sorting allows you to define your own sort criteria with the data present in the grid by up to three levels.  If you have one or more attributes pulled into your grid, use an advanced sort prior to applying subtotals.

You can sort by both columns and rows at the same time using the Sort editor.  You can also sort by a combination of metrics and attributes in ascending or descending order, such as by Retailer ascending and by Unit Sales WTD descending (highest to lowest sales for the week).

For example,  if you have Retailer, State and City on the rows and Dollar Sales and Units Sales on the columns, you can sort the columns to line up in ascending or descending order by Retailer, then State, then City.

To define an advanced sort:

1.  Run a report in Grid mode.

2.  On the Data menu, select Sort.

3.  In the Sort editor,  on the Row tab, specify the new row elements that you want to sort and their sort order.

4.  On the Column tab, specify any column elements that you want to sort and their sort order.

     For example:

5.  Click OK.
