I would like the ability to search for a specific product number (e.g. PO release number, or UPC), and for WebForms to pull up a comprehensive search based on information transmitted in my orders. This would allow me to locate specific documents more efficiently within WebForms.

Agree! Since we dropship to end users for companies like Grainger, each PO we receive from our customer will have multiple identifying numbers, such as the Grainger PO, the end user's PO, reference number, job number, release number, order number, etc. It would be great if these numbers were searchable as well.

If any of my company's internal documents wind up without the single searchable number on them, it is very difficult to locate that item again in WebForms. Also, sometimes the end users contact us with questions about their orders, and they usually don't have the Grainger PO number, making it hard for us to access the information they need.

Hi Christina,

Thanks for the great feedback. Would you mind sharing what company you work with? I'd love to look up one of your orders to get a better idea of what kinds of fields would be particularly interesting to you in this case.

Thanks,
Colin

Sure! I'm with Gray Manufacturing.

Currently, this applies mainly to Grainger orders, but we're looking into migrating buying programs such as Navistar and Ameriquest to the SPS platform, and this would definitely be an issue for them as well. At minimum, each of those orders would have our partner's PO, the end user's PO, and the end user's SOID, with additional reference and job numbers possible.

Hi Christina,

Thanks for providing the additional information. After reviewing the structure of your orders it looks like this request fits with a project we already have planned. We're aiming to revamp our approach to search in WebForms giving users like yourself a lot more flexibility in what you choose to search for and how those results are displayed. I'll be sure the fields you specified are included in the scope of this project.

Look for an update to this thread when we get closer to deploying the revamped search!

Regards,
Colin

Is there any update to the status of this project. This search capability could really assist our company as well.

Thank you,

Stephanie Miller

Hi Stephanie,

We've been working on some bug fix projects (deploying to everyone tomorrow!) along with three other improvement projects that we're targeting to deploy before the holiday rush. This means the earliest we can start on this will be early 2014. It doesn't look to be a huge project, however we need to complete our current batch of projects before making decisions on the next round.

I hope this update helps give you visibility into where we're at!

Thanks,
Colin

I do have one more question. In the webform main screen we have a customer that the ID number field to them is their release number of a specific order number. Is there a way to add another category to the main webform screen that could be the order number?

Thank you,

Stephanie Miller
